Dakahlia Governorate
Dakahlia Governorate is named after the village of Dakahlia, an ancient village now located within the Zarqa district of the Damietta Governorate. Dakahlia served as the capital of the Dakahlia region from the Arab conquest until the Mamluk era, remaining so until 715 AH (1315 CE), when the capital was moved to Ashmoun al-Rumman.
